The challenge

In a company where everyone works remotely, creating moments of energy and connection was hard, and a standard video call was not enough for the anniversary event. It needed something that got everyone taking part and helped each person see their role in the team's work.

What we did

Human creativity

We wrote two mystery stories tailored to the company's culture: one about who murdered the company mascot, the other about who stole the anniversary cake. Each story is a game. The challenges were designed around the different types in the Working Genius model, so each person had a moment to shine.

An app that is simple to use

  • Teams of 10 playing at the same time, remotely: each player joined by scanning a QR code on the host's screen and played on their phone.
  • Fully adapted to the company's context, with animations made in After Effects. Gemini helped generate some of the images.
  • Ready to run the activity again whenever needed. It is a web app built in React, with real-time play, so it opens in any browser.

Two mysteries, two screens

The hosts ran a shared screen with the story, the timer, the team leaderboard and the clues revealed so far. Each player played on their phone, with different mini-games tied to different working styles, so everyone had a moment to shine.

Who killed Rocky Banana?A Cluedo-style game for teams of 10. Work together to find out who murdered the company mascot.

Who stole the cake?A second game, created for the company anniversary. All employees work together to find out who stole the cake.

The results

  • Between 60 and 100 people took part, in teams of 10.
  • The activity ran 2 times, at the event it was built for.
  • Feedback from participants was very positive.

What this can do for you

If your team works remotely and needs moments that bring it together, a game tailored to your culture builds connection and helps each person see what they contribute. It is ready to run again and did not require building an in-house engineering team.

Finding an online activity that genuinely excites a fully remote company is tough, but this experience brought us together seamlessly. Really happy about it!
